Series 830 Large Diameter Butterfly Valves Made in Full Compliance to AWWA C-504 |
Suggested Specifications:
| General: All 24" and larger butterfly valves shall
be of the tight closing, rubber seated type conforming to the design
standards of the latest revision of AWWA C-504. Valves shall be the
product of a manufacturer who is experienced in butterfly vale design and
construction and who has regularly produced to AWWA specifications for at
least 15 years. Valves shall be bubble tight at rated pressure in either
direction and shall be suitable for throttling service and/or operation
over long periods of inactivity.
Body: All valve bodies shall be constructed of cast iron ASTM A-126 Grade B with true ANSI B16.1 flange thickness and drilling. Disc Valve disc shall be constructed of cast iron ASTM A-48 Class 40, ductile iron ASTM A-536 or fabricated steel. Valve disc shall be capable of receiving a stainless steel disc edge or natural rubber replaceable seat. Shafts shall be of solid 18-8 series Stainless Steel and correspond to the design requirements of AWWA C-504 latest revision. A shake proof connection of the disc to the shaft shall be provided without impairing shaft strength. Seat: All seats shall be synthetic rubber compound, mechanically retained. The mating surface for the resilient seat shall be 304 Stainless Steel. The seat shall be fully adjustable without special tools and shall be replaceable without removing the valve from the line. Bearing: All shaft bearings shall be of the self-lubrication corrosion-resistant sleeve type. Bearings shall be contained in reinforced phenolic cylinders or bronze cylinders, and designed for horizontal or vertical shaft loading. Packing: All valves shall have a field adjustable packing with self-compressing V-type configuration and shall be replaceable without removing the operator. Actuators: All valve actuators shall be designed and sized in accordance with AWWA C-504 latest revision. Actuators shall be sized for maximum bi-directional flow and designed to hold the valve in any position between fully open and fully closed without movement. Testing: All valves shall be hydrostatic and leak tested in accordance with AWWA C-504 latest revision. Finish: All interior and exterior finishes, operator and accessories shall be in accordance with the latest revision of AWWA C-504. |

Actuator Sizing Operators for Mosser 830 series butterfly valves are sized to meet the torque requirements for individual pressures and flow conditions. They deliver adequate torque in the valve shaft for smooth seating, unseating and valve movement under all conditions in an given application. Electric actuators are available for open/close service or for automatic modulating and control of flow rate, liquid level or other function. They can be furnished for rotating the valve disc from fully open to fully closed within a range from thirty seconds to sixteen minutes depending on valve size, operator model and application requirements. Standard operating time is sixty seconds. Standard accessories include limit switches, indicator lamps, and auxillary manual handwheels. Manual gear type operators will require 80 pounds or less input force to produce torque sufficient to fully cycle the valve under full flow and pressure. All manual gear units have standard AWWA stop limiting device and valve position indicator. |
